Sleeping 6 people

‘Headland Cottage’ occupies a commanding position, set just above Porthallow Cove and behind the beach, enjoying breathtaking sea and coastal views across Falmouth Bay with St. Anthony Lighthouse and Dodman Point in the distance.

The cottage garden was recently awarded an entry in the NATIONAL GARDEN SCHEMES YELLOW BOOK.

Porthallow is an attractive village situated on the east side of The Lizard Peninsula just south of the Helford River Estuary. The area is well known for its beautiful coastline, sandy beaches and fishing villages with surrounding unspoilt countryside and farmland. The village has a craft shop and also a public house, the Five Pilchards, conveniently within staggering distance of the cottage.

Porthallow is a great place to fish either off the beach or from the rocks on either side of the cove. At low tide, children will enjoy the rock pooling and as the cove is usually quite sheltered, swimming and messing about in boats is great fun. Meanwhile ‘funnel watchers’ will enjoy the views in and out of Falmouth Harbour.

ACCOMMODATION

‘Headland Cottage’ is an exquisite property built into the cliff beside the cove enjoying unrivalled views over the beach, countryside and coastline in both directions.

On the ground floor: An entrance area leads to a spacious and stunning double aspect sitting room. A large bay window with window seating provides spectacular sea and coastal views. The room features wooden floorboards and a granite fronted fireplace with a wood burning stove.

The kitchen also has fine views across the sea, beach and village and is well equipped with fitted units, range cooker, granite work-tops, slate flooring and a dining area. The utility room includes a butler sink and a separate cloakroom with WC and hand basin.

On the first floor: The master ensuite bedroom is a beautiful and spacious double aspect room with a king size double bed and wooden floorboards. A large bay window with window seating provides spectacular sea and coastal views which can even be enjoyed whilst sitting in bed!! The ensuite featuring a glass walled shower room with WC and wash basin has views across the sea, beach and village.

A twin bedded room also with views across the sea, beach and village.

A further double bedded room with sea views.

A bathroom with WC, wash basin and bath.

Outside: A boathouse is approached from the beach with parking in front for two vehicles and above is a terraced garden with stunning views across the cove and out to sea – to be enjoyed with a barbecue and bottle of wine!! Steps lead upwards from the boathouse to the cottage and the terraced garden which has a separate entrance through a small gate.
