Two Self Catering
Holiday Cottages
'Seaways' and 'Creekside'
Port Gaverne, nr Port Isaac
North Cornwall
- Sleeping up to 6 people
- Pets Welcome
- Private enclosed gardens & car parking
- Open All Year Rugged
- North Cornish Coast / Beach 100 yds
Gullrock is a
group of nine dwellings, which stands less than a hundred yards from the
head of the beach and the coast path at Port
Gaverne. Gullrock started life about two hundred years ago as the
"Liberty" fish cellars or palace, and has been, at various times since,
residential accommodation, a hotel, and holiday homes.
'Seaways' and 'Creekside'
are available as self catering accommodation. Both are fully heated throughout,
and have all the facilities you would expect in a true 'home from home'
- Computer with broadband, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, fridge-freezer,
microwave, 26" LCD Freeview television, Freeview DVD/Hard Drive recorder,
payphone, OS maps etc.
All the private grounds of Gullrock, the courtyard, the
car park, the barn, the pathways and the river lawn, bordered by the lane
on one side and the stream on the other, are available for the use of
all residents. The courtyard is a pleasant suntrap during the entire day
at any time of year, and the garden furniture is all for the use of visitors.
Just outside the courtyard gate, the river lawn is safely away from the
building for ball games and other boisterous pursuits (weather and state
of the grass permitting). For the less energetic, you may prefer a barbecue
or an old fashioned picnic or simply to sit and watch the moorhens by
the leat.
S E A W A Y S
This cottage is the most spacious in Gullrock, providing
generously for six people in one double and two twin bedded rooms. It
occupies the single storey arm, and is entered off the courtyard into
the kitchen-diner.
Brass centre and wall lamps and attractive table lamps,
plus extra spotlights in the kitchen, ensure good lighting. There are
deep window sills in the stone and cob walls and some period furnishings,
mingling old style charm and new style convenience in homely harmony.
C R E E K S I D E
Entered from the lane via five slate steps into the hallway,
Creekside is all on one floor, but because this arm of Gullrock is built
into the slope of the hill, windows on the lane side are just above ground
level, whilst windows on the other side overlook the courtyard from first
storey height, and give views over the rest of Gullrock, and up Port Gaverne
valley. "Creekside" sleeps six in one double, one twin and two single
bedrooms.
This part of Gullrock was the earliest to be used as living
accommodation, and some of the ceilings and doorways are low - not much
over 6ft in the hall, kitchen, bedroom 3 and bathroom. It is an historic
and cosy dwelling.
