peninsula, in Sancreed near Penzance. |

The artistically converted barn and stables of warm granite and Douglas fir sit in a sheltered valley of small fields and woodland, surrounded by the grandeur and wildness of the moors and their mysterious sacred sites. Our position in the middle of the Land's End Peninsula places us only 20 minutes from all stretches of the stunning coast path with its towering granite cliffs, sheltered coves and sandy beaches. It is 12 minutes from the ancient harbour town of Penzance, with all facilities. The Surrounding Area Our house is an ideal base for exploring magical Cornwall. Three miles west lies Lands End and the long sandy surfing beach of Sennen. The south coast, from the charming fishing village of Mousehole to the sheltered beaches of Porthcurnow, consists of rounded granite cliffs with sub-tropical vegetation in sheltered valleys. The north coast is ragged and wild where the moors meet the sea. St. Ives with its beaches and art galleries, is a half hour drive to the north-east. Enjoy moorland walks through coconut-scented gorse and heather from carn to cromlech, to stone circles and iron age villages, following ley lines or the tin miner's tracks. This area has the highest density of stone circles, menhirs, and other ancient sites in the UK. Accommodation The Field of Dreams accommodates in comfort 12 adults plus children. The heart of the house is a large kitchen/dining room, with a hand-built oak kitchen and a wood burning stove, which creates a convivial family atmosphere. A large and airy sun lounge/conservatory with gallery and verandah overlooks the garden and stream. Arched windows and doors lead to the courtyard, a sheltered sun trap ideal for dining al fresco. The master bedroom is the former hayloft, with stained glass window, oak floor and extra sleeping gallery (double plus single). There are five other double bedrooms, in three of which there is an additional single bed, a sleeping gallery with two single beds, a bathroom with toilet and three shower rooms with toilet. The 50m² studio, opening out onto the sheltered courtyard and garden, can be used as further sleeping accommodation, a playroom or as a meeting room. The house has gas central heating, a jacuzzi, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, colour television / video / DVD and a stereo. The garden is large and secluded for sunbathing, playing games or having barbecues, with a wellspring, pond and stream. |
