GLORIOUS Gardens

Trebah Gardens GARDENS Exotic blooms, tree ferns and bananas, early flowering daffodils and eight foot high Brazilian 'rhubarb' - all thrive in the sub-tropical climate, brought by the Gulf Stream, which laps the shores of Falmouth & South West Cornwall. On the south coast, numerous parks and gardens open to the public contain some of the best examples of rare and unusual specimens brought back by sea-faring botanists from as far afield as China and Australasia during the 18th and 19th centuries. To the east lie the internationally famous Lost Gardens of Heligan and the site of the world famous Eden Project. A stunning sight throughout the year, the gardens of Falmouth & South West Cornwall are packed full of magnolias, camellias and rhododendrons, which are at their best during spring and early summer when special Garden Breaks are operated by local hotels and guest houses.

High-hedged country lanes dotted with wild flora and coastal paths decked with the flowers of the seashore - pinks, thrift, mallow and tamarisk - are the hallmarks of Falmouth & South West Cornwall, where spring arrives as early as January. Cowslips, violets and ragged robin splash the cliff paths in February and March, while bluebells and pink campions decorate the hedges in May, ensuring that the region is always awash with colour.

Eden: The World's Biggest Greenhouse Discover the delights and wonders of a tropical rainforest, walk amongst an abundance of flowers from all over the globe, stroll through olive groves and beneath cascading vines, past palms and exotic fruits - in short take a walk through paradise. Cornwall's gigantic linked domes form the largest greenhouse in the world. Here you can feel, taste, see and use plants, marvel at new technologies and follow trails linking works of art, performance, sculpture and multi-media exhibits. Eden will entertain and inspire you - it is a world of happiness and tragedy - it is Cornwall's living theatre.. For details contact: 01726 811911.
