Ensuite Bed and Breakfast in St. Ives
Four Star quality ensuite Guest Accommodation
One of Britain's Best BandB's (AA) and named
in homage of the man who helped Bernard Leach set up his famous pottery
in Higher Stennack, Edgar's offers quality ensuite accommodation in St.
Ives, Cornwall's leading resort, The Guardian's Seaside Town of the Year,
2007.
With its exclusive on-site parking, Edgar's
is within easy reach of the Leach Pottery, Tate St. Ives gallery, St.
Ives Harbour, superb beaches and the town centre "down'long"
as well as Land's End, Eden Project, Heligan and the National Maritime
Museum Cornwall.
Personally supervised by Judith and David
Tremelling whose hospitality experience extends over more than thirty
years, Edgar's is as ideal for touring spectacular West Cornwall as for
exploring the cobbled streets and golden sandy beaches of St. Ives itself.
Combining
the charm of Edgar Skinner's original house with modern convenience, Edgar's
quality has been recognised by the AA's 4 star Guest Accommodation award.
Breakfast is always carefully prepared and cooked to order on Judith's
claret red Aga range; each guest room has its own ensuite facilities and
many little extras appreciated by our discerning guests.
Open from Spring to October for holidays
and short breaks, Edgar's is now a non-smoking house. Each of our seven
centrally heated en-suite guest rooms has a complimentary beverage tray
and colour television.
Amazing golden sandy beaches, the bustling town centre, picturesque St.
Ives harbour and Cornwall's most scenic St. Ives railway branch line are
all within about 15 minutes' walk from Edgar's. To help you explore the
Rosamund Pilcher country around St. Ives there is free parking in our
grounds throughout your stay and many coach tours (and buses for Zennor
and Land's End and Penzance) stop right outside.
BED & BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATION
The
original part of Chy-an-Creet, the house you see as you enter our drive,
dates from c.1923.
The lounge is to your right as you enter the
front door. Originally the dining room, it benefits from a recent extension
which gives a quiet, light area in which to write, watch terrestrial widescreen
television or read. On the shelves, there are plenty of books to borrow
if you wish.
The bar lounge occupies the original drawing
room. It has a variety of refreshments including delicious fruit juices
and cordials. The hotel is open only to our guests and their friends,
hence the "private" hotel status. The original fireplace has
been brought back into use for a real fire on cooler evenings. Feel free
to toast your toes whether you wish to drink or not!
The
breakfast room, next to the bar, in the extended west wing of the hotel,
is where you'll probably start your day if you haven't already been for
a stroll on the golden sandy beach in the early morning sun. The servery
is spread with a range of cereals, fruit, fruit juices and natural yoghurt
to start you off on the right foot, then your selection of freshly cooked
items, teas, coffee and toast from the menu are served at your reserved
separate table between 0815 to 0915 daily.
On the First Floor we have four of our en-suite
bedrooms, each with central heating and its own private shower, WC and
colour television. Each has a refreshment tray, tissues, soap, other toiletries
and fluffy towels. The beds are made ready for your arrival with 15-tog
duvets and freshly laundered sheets. There are also 100% wool or Witney
Cellular spare blankets hidden in the wardrobes, "just in case"!
The remaining four en-suite bedrooms, also
centrally heated, are easily accessed on the ground floor.
