LOCATION
"Bal Cottage", "The Cabin" and "The Loft" are
within An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. They are only
a stone's throw from the Penwith moors, giving easy access to the
nearby Men-an-Tol and Nine Maidens, with the north coast and its
coastal path some couple of miles by moorland path.
The Penwith moors run almost continuously from
St Ives to Lands End and contain amongst many others
the Men Scryfa, Men-an-Tol and other ancient remains. A couple of
miles from the cottages to the West are Chun Castle and Lanyon Quoit.
A similar distance East lies the remarkable
Iron Age settlement of Chycauster, one of the best preserved sites
of that period in Europe. Nearer to hand are the impressive ruins
of the Ding Dong and Greenburrow engine houses.
LOCAL AREA
The cottages provide a perfect base for exploring
West Cornwall, an area richly endowed with magical gardens, antiquities,
art galleries and museums, not forgetting the dramatically beautiful
coastline only a short drive or walk away.
Trips to the Isles of Scilly are possible
daily by steamship or helicopter from Penzance or by fixed wing
flights from Land's End Airport near St Just.
Various festivals, exhibitions and other public
events are held throughout the year in St Ives, Penzance, Helston,
Padstow and we are less than an hours drive from the stunning
Eden Project at St Austell, which is open throughout the
year.
