Darracott Farm is a 13th Century Farmhouse, nestling in a sheltered combe overlooking the valley of Welcombe. It is a five-acre smallholding with poultry and animals and is a leading herb farm in the South West, supplying fresh herbs and salads to hotels and restaurants throughout the county and nationwide. The farm's self-catering accommodation is set in this tranquil and unspoilt rural setting. It sleeps up to four people in a self-contained, ground floor cottage in a wing of the farmhouse, having its own driveway, entrance and secluded garden.
Darracott Farm is situated in the unspoilt village of Welcombe, a group of hamlets clustered in sheltered combes on the North Devon Coast, between Hartland and Bude. It is part of the Heritage Coast and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Only half a mile from the sea and beach at Welcombe Mouth, the area provides the most beautiful unspoilt countryside in North Devon. The rugged Atlantic coastline with its dramatic cliffs, secluded sandy coves and the rambling valleys, woodland streams and waterfalls offers the very best in the West Country. There is a wealth of wildlife both on the coast and inland, from birds of prey, rare butterflies and beautiful wild flowers. On the beach, you will find a mixture of sand, pebbles and rock pools alive with sea life. The Atlantic rollers provide the very best in surfing and swimming with excellent water quality. When you are not on the beach or exploring the coast and countryside, the area offers a wealth of other facilities for all the family only a short drive from Welcombe. These include;
So there is plenty to do and see for all the family. Welcombe Village has a pub serving excellent, locally produced food.. Kilkhampton is the next village, six miles away just across the Cornish border and Bude is a further ten minutes drive with its excellent sandy beaches, shops and restaurants. The comfortable accommodation at Darracott is ideal for 4 people, in addition the bunkhouse sleeps 2 and there is a field adjoining for camping if required. The private garden offers a secluded retreat after lazy days on the beach or out walking. The cottage is available from Easter to October with a Saturday change over. Outside the peak season of July to September, Short 3 day breaks and flexible changeover days are available by arrangement. Tariff 2008 Low season rates from £200 per week. |
