Self Catering Holiday Cottages in Fowey
A relaxing stay at Coriander
Cottages & Mill is a unique 'herbal' remedy for a busy and stressful
life.
Set in the grounds of an old Cornish Watermill and surrounded
by 2 acres of wildlife gardens, millponds and orchards, the converted
cider barns have been renovated using traditional methods but have been
given cool, organic contemporary interiors.
ACCOMMODATION
Badgers' Hollow - sleeps 2
Mill Cottage – Sleeps 4
The limestone floors are gently heated by ground source
heat and the wet room style shower and Jacuzzi spa baths use solar heated
water. A huge rainwater harvesting system collects water for the washing
machine and toilet and local lambs' wool cocoons the oak cladding.
In Badgers' Hollow, our luxury barn, silk filled duvets
and organic cotton sheets ensure our guests sleep 'green' and easy, and
in the spa bathroom, Soya candles, aromatherapy oils and oversize fluffy
organic cotton bathrobes add to the ambience. Badgers' Hollow can be rented
on a nightly basis, with Cornish breakfast delivered if required.
Our Bed and Breakfast
rooms have independent entrances with French doors out onto the
courtyard or private garden. The Stables sleeps two people and has a covered
veranda with wonderful views over the countryside. All rooms have a fridge
and microwave, LCD TV with DVD player and beverage making facilities with
fair-trade teas, coffee and hot chocolate.
A full Cornish breakfast using local and organic produce
can be delivered to the rooms or served in Back-a-long Barn. Special diets
can be catered for by arrangement.
The millpond and streams in the grounds are spring fed
and in the winter months tumbling waterfalls pour through the gardens.
There is an ancient badger sett with a night camera for guests to view,
and each room has a set of binoculars. All three rooms have a private
seating are with garden furniture, a fabulous place to watch the antics
of the resident bats in the evening, whilst enjoying a bottle of Cornish
wine from our cellar.
LOCATION
There
are super coastal and countryside walks from the doorstep. The Saints
Way footpath runs past the drive and is the ancient route of saints from
Padstow to Fowey. The Iron Age hill fort of Castle D'ore, the fishing
village of Golant with its beautiful 13th century church and Fowey's Readymoney
Cove and St Catherine's castle are all within pleasant walking distance.
The harbour town of Fowey, with it's pretty whitewashed
cottages, independent shops and bars and bistros with terraces out over
the water is just over a mile away. There is a wonderful information and
Daphne Du Maurier Literacy center there, and lovers of Du Maurier are
able to visit the most famous scenes in the stories, such as Rebecca's
Cove (Menabilly) and The House on the Strand (Tywardreath).
Our nearest public house is a short walk and even shorter
ferry ride across the water, with great food and fantastic views over
Fowey and the harbour from the terrace.
The amazing Eden Project is less than 15 minutes drive
and we are close to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and many of Cornwall's
Gardens and national Trust Properties.
