A beautiful, private hamlet of picturesque cottages, contemporay
Scandinavian lodges and peaceful riverside lodges set amidst
the idyllic Camel Valley
Originally
a 16th century working water mill Coombe Mill is now a beautiful
and secluded hamlet of picturesque cottages and lodges.
Sheltered and protected in a lush woodland valley, the grounds
extend over 30 acres with beautiful gardens, fields and paddocks,
quiet woodland pathways, tranquil fishing lakes and lovely views.
Children' play area and toddler village.
The estate is home to an unrivalled assortment of wildlife from
kingfishers and woodpeckers, owls and goldcrest to rare butterflies
otters, foxes and badgers.
To these have been added many unusual farm animals including
red deer, rheas, saddleback pigs, pygmy goats, donkeys, ponies,
ducks, rabbits, ducks and chickens. The highlight of each morning
is a special tractor ride to feed them all.
Our two fishing lakes are stocked with rainbow trout and carp
and are for the exclusive use of guests along with private river
fishing for sea trout and salmon on the River Camel.
St Breward - our nearby village - rises high above Coombe and
dates back to pre-Norman times. It enjoys magnificent views
of the surrounding countryside and coast. There is an excellent
pub reached by footpaths from Coombe, a well-stocked local stores
and post office, pony trekking stables and cycle hire. An indoor
swimming pool, sauna, solarium and golf course are all within
3/4mile.
The
Cottages:
All our cottages look out onto beautifully landscaped gardens.
ROOTS (sleeps 2)
Beautifully converted from two old stables, Roots is now a quaint
cottage for couples with a cosy living area, pretty four poster
bed and log burner. A split stable door looks out onto mature
lawns and gardens with garden seats and a huge covered barbecue
for al fresco meals. Roots is a favourite for honeymoons and
late season holidays.

Formerly a 17th century barn this popular cottage has a welcoming
open plan living room and well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher
and washer-dryer and warming log burner. There is a large bathroom,
pretty twin bedroom and woodland views from the four poster
double bedroom. Outside there is a sunny patio. This is a charming
cottage for a family holiday or for two couples to share.

upper floor with magnificent views over the gardens. The double
bedroom with four poster bed is en-suite and there is a separate
twin bedroom and full size bathroom. Tree Tops is truly old

We are ideally situated for making the most of Cornwall:
Nearby is the stunning Camel Estuary with its white sands,
surfing beaches and miles of scenic coastal walking. The 18-mile
Camel Trail cycle track starts 1 mile away from Coombe
with bike hire in the village. Also in St Breward there
is pony trekking across Bodmin Moor and our excellent
pub The Old Inn (Times Pub of the Year finalist 2001) which
can be reached along delightful ancient footpaths. For beer
enthusiasts CAMRA's Pub of the Year is in our neighbouring
village.
The fabulous EDEN Project is just a short drive away,
so too are pretty Padstow and King Arthur's Tintagel.
There are beautiful gardens at Heligan, Lanhydrock, Pencarrow
and Trebah, fine restaurants, art galleries and…. so much
more!
We keep a very good range of tourist literature, maps and books
in our reception, along with our own walking, garden and golf
guides and each cottage and lodge has a comprehensive folder
of information, together with lots of our own suggestions which
are designed to help you make the most of your holiday.
