Chy Barnett is a whitewashed, stone holiday cottage on the edge of the sea at Gurnards Head, one of the most dramatic coves in west Cornwall. Originally bought by our family in the 1930s, we have gradually modernised it. All rooms have stunning views over the Atlantic.

The Holiday Cottage is ideally situated adjacent to the coastal footpath - offering unrivalled views of the sea and cliffs. A perfect location for walking, birdwatching, or just relaxing and enjoying the wonderful flora and fauna of Cornwall.

There are many beaches nearby, whether you want to swim or surf. Treen Cove is below the house – accessible at low tide for those willing to scramble over rocks. Beaches within a short drive include Portheras Cove, Porthcurno and Marazion. Sennen Cove and Gwithian, also nearby, have some of the best surfing waves in west Cornwall.

Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the house is a few hundred yards from the coast path. You can walk to Zennor, St Ives or Lands’ End along the cliffs and coves of Poldark country.

The location on the Land's End Peninsular with its warm climate and scenery have also acted as a focal point for artists over the years. St. Ives is an unspoilt, small harbour town with cobbled streets and beautiful views. The warm Mediterranean climate and stunning scenery attract many visitors to the town. St. Ives is home to the Tate Gallery, Hepworth Museum and Leach Pottery. St. Ives has many excellent beaches: Porthmeor, Porthminster, Carbis Bay and Porth Kidney Sands. Dolphins often swim in St Ives' bay and seals even come into the harbour! The area is rich in art wih galleries of renowned local artists, such as Kurt Jackson in St Just.

Finally, lots of restaurants have recently opened in nearby Penzance and along the Lands’ End Peninsula. One of the best known is The Gurnards Head, just a few hundred yards walk from the house. Penzance is a very popular market town on the Land's End Peninsula. the town has a working harbour, promenade and harbour front, with long sandy beaches and stunning views across the bay towards St. Michael's Mount and the Lizard Peninsula. Penzance benefits from direct rail links to London and the rest of the UK. Penzance is also the gateway for the Isles of Scilly, with daily sea departures. Newlyn Harbour and Mousehole are both close by, with Lamorna Cove and Porthcurno beach en-route to Land's End.
