Cornwall is an ideal base as the County is rich in flora, fauna, geology, minerals, great houses and gardens, archaeology, unspoilt country and coast and has a mild climate. With the construction of new major roads it is a lot quicker to drive to Cornwall than it used to be. For example it takes about five hours to travel from Birmingham to Newquay by car
Large comfortable centrally heated town house. Quiet central position in Newquay within easy reach of coach and railway stations, the best beaches in Europe, gardens, Newquay Zoo, shops and entertainment. About 7 miles from Newquay Airport. Parking for five cars in our car parks and parking in the road behind our house and safe keeping for bicycles Lounge with TV and Video, hearing loop and excellent library, maps and tourist information.
A small insight to our packages: WALKING - Once you have walked in Cornwall you won't want to walk anywhere else. Cornwall is a superb County for walking with different habitats, history, industrial and ancient archaeology, open moorland, woods, fields, rivers, estuaries and about two hundred and sixty-five miles of varied coastline to choose from. All is within easy distance of Newquay, the heart of Cornwall, itself situated on a lovely part of the coast. Our minibus transports you to the start of your walk, lead expertly by Steve Hebdige, at your pace. His wide local knowledge makes your day twice as interesting. When possible the minibus meets you with your lunch, so you do not have to carry it, then at the end of the day it is there to carry you home. Our maximum length walks are about ten miles, There is time for the photographer to catch a view so do bring your camera. CORNISH ALL SORTS - Sitting in a Bronze Age style house in the middle of Bodmin Moor learning to spin wool or smelt tin may not be the normal idea of the sort of activity one gets involved with on a package tour.
A could be followed by a and the next day we might be ARCHAEOLOGY - Standing in a stone circle on a bleak moor today does not convey very much to us about what it was like in the area when our ancestors quarried, dressed and transported their megaliths to the site. These are the sort of questions and many more that we try to answer on our Archaeology weeks. The Mineral collecting holidays held at the Chichester are unique and famous too! No previous knowledge is needed to enjoy this week and we welcome experts. We have five daily collecting trips with one half day during the week. Evenings are spent in our 'Rock Shed' where we help you to identify your finds. |
