Guest House - Bed and Breakfast Holiday accommodation in Falmouth

View from Castle Crest
Falmouth - Gyllyngvase Beach

Castle Crest is a small family run guest house with an ambiance that ensures a carefree and relaxed holiday whether it be for a one or two week stay or just a short break. Our visitor's book brims over with compliments from past guests - many of whom return regularly.

We have 2 double and 2 single rooms all with CTV and tea/coffee facilities. We offer a choice of either full English or Continental Breakfast. We are open all year (except for Christmas) and for the comfort of our guests Castle Crest is 'non smoking'. Sorry, but we are unable to accommodate children under 11 years of age.

Castle Beach is one minute's walk away and the beaches at Gyllyngvase, Swanpool and Maenporth are also close by. The town is easily reached on foot.

The National Maritime Museum Cornwall is a five minute walk from Castle Crest with displays chronicling the history and development of boats and sailing craft, maritime history, navigation and the effects of the oceans on our weather systems. Pendennis Castle is also just a few minutes walk from the property - a magnificent Tudor Castle that was built by Henry VIII.

Pendennis and its sister castle at St. Mawes, just a ferry ride across the Fal estuary have defended the anchorage of the Carrick Roads for over 450 years. Now in the care of English Heritage, Pendennis Castle provides visitors with a fascinating glimpse into its history from Tudor times to the re-fortification in both world wars. Along with a museum and discovery centre are displays of coastal defense armament and access to the former secret installations.

FALMOUTH

Falmouth offers some excellent restaurants & shops and art galleries - indeed many who visit comment on how pleasant it is to still find a town retaining its original charm and quaintness with its past history and commercial importance as a Packet Ship port still clearly evident.

Falmouth's seashore is washed by the balmy waters of the Gulf Stream, encouraging palms and other sub-tropical plants to grow and flourish. Frosts are unusual and snow a virtual rarity, Camellias bloom from late December followed by a magnificent array of spring flowers. Visit in March and see the fields ablaze with daffodils and narcissi; and in May the natural wild flowers come into their own with wild orchids, bluebells and thrift. The splendid gardens of Trebah, Glendurgan and Heligan are close by and attract worldwide visitors virtually the whole year round.

Nearby the waters of Carrick Roads and its tributaries - third in size only to Sydney and Rio de Janeiro and with its headland dominated by Pendennis Castle - are a magnificent natural harbour and attract a vast amount of migratory wildlife.

It is also a natural haven for shipping, ragging in size from small yachts to large, ocean going cruise ships - indeed the skyline never remains constant for long with a variety of vessels arriving and departing from port.

There are excellent public transport links to the whole of West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly as well as numerous harbour trips exploring the Fal and Helford Rivers. Visit the beautiful City of Truro bar boat and who knows, you might even come across a school of dolphins that are regular visitors to our waters!
