TINTAGEL & NORTH CORNWALL

The coastline is just part of many areas of designated areas of outstanding natural beauty, in spring the area has a display of wildflowers that bring a profusion of colour to the winding lanes, valley walks and SW Coastal Path.

The mild temperatures Cornwall enjoys for most of the year brings the early migrating birds to the estuaries and shores, a delight for the bird watchers.

Tintagel Castle is said to be the birthplace of King Arthur; Tintagel Castle and The Great Halls of Chivalry have inspired many to write about that subject but there is more to the village, the Old Post Office, St. Materiana's Church, St Nectan's Glen are an important part of Cornwall's heritage.

The area has two beaches close by, as well as Tintagel Cove, Bossiney at the North end of the village and Trebarwith just a short drive further South (about 10 minutes).

The later has lifeguards in attendance in the busy times of the year, the beach is easily accessed from the road or you could enjoy a pleasant stroll along the coastal path to get to it.

The National Trust and English Heritage both have a number of properties and gardens in Cornwall, these are easily accessible during the early and later times of the year.

The picturesque fishing villages of Boscastle to the North and Port Isaac in the South have a different sort of charm, 14th century cottages, narrow winding lanes and excellent restaurants if you feel like treating yourselves.

Further a field, Bodmin Moor is great for walking, travel through the Bronze Age to the Iron Age, visit the hill top forts, Celtic crosses and stone circles, climb the second highest point in Cornwall when you reach the top of Rough Tor, only 6 miles away, you can marvel at stunning views.
