Boat-Gazer sits on a hill overlooking Newlyn Harbour, Penzance and the whole of Mount's Bay. The light on the bay is never the same and it's tempting to watch the boats coming and going all day. In the early 1900's artists chose Newlyn for its light and beauty and began the famous Newlyn School movement. It's easy to see why.

Boat-Gazer has been recently refurbished using natural wood and fresh white décor. Furnishings are comfortable with all mod cons.

Newlyn life still revolves around the daily catch and for early birds, there's always lots of atmosphere at the fish market. Later you can enjoy the galleries, cobbled streets and cafes.

There's a Co-op, fruit/veg and fish shops and a bakers (grab a hot pasty!) and organic butchers that have been here for centuries. Then there's the famous home-made ice-cream sold only at Jelberts. Evenings can end with a stroll down the pier.

You can pick up some fish and chips, nip into one of the fishermen's pubs (live jazz at the Tolcarne on Sundays) or dine in style at one of the restaurants. There are C of E and Methodist churches nearby and a Friends Meeting House in Penzance.

Newlyn is a great base for exploring Penwith, with lots to discover straight from Boat-Gazer's door. Penzance with all its shops is just a lovely 20-30 min walk away (or 5 min drive), along the seafront. From there the Scillonian leaves for the Isles of Scilly. Two miles along the coast is the storybook village of Mousehole. Big sandy beaches like Marazion (windsurfing/St Michael's Mount), Sennen (great surf) and Porthcurno (cliff-side Minack Theatre) are all 10-20 mins' drive away.

Scuba dives leave from Newlyn and Penzance. St Ives' Tate Gallery is just half an hour's drive away. Tintagel and the Eden Project are an hour away.

Transport:
Penzance Rail Station is 10 minutes away by taxi (approx. £5 fare).Bus no 6 leaves 2 mins' walk away, regularly servicing Penzance and Mousehole. Other busses leave from Newlyn to Land's End and Sennen.

Boat-Gazer is part of a friendly terrace of locals. We, the owners live near by and are on hand should you need local tips. The basement of the house is a separate entity with its own entrance and is used by us as an office.

The house is situated on a hill with the garage being below the house, which fits a small to medium sized car. There is also on-street parking on the hill below the property for larger cars. There's easy road access to the main entrance on Bowjey Terrace but parking is not usually possible there for long so most people unload, park in the garage or on the Bowjey Hill and walk up the 1-2 mins back up the hill to the house. From the road there are 6+4 easy steps down to the house.
