Old and new live side by side in the town, with
the quaint old cobbled streets of the historic 'Downalong'
area to the modern architecture of the 'Tate- St. Ives'
- which houses many paintings of the St. Ives School and show
cases new, up and coming artists from an art community that
has existed in St. Ives for many decades up until the present
day.
Very few seaside towns
in Britain can boast such an eclectic mix of culture, beach
life, outdoor activity and tranquillity.
Many new restaurants have opened in recent months,
catering for all tastes, but with special attention to fresh
and interesting seafood - for which St. Ives is traditionally
renowned.
Other attractions nearby include Penzance, St.
Michael's Mount, Mousehole, The National maritime Museum in
Falmouth, the outdoor Minack Theatre at Porthcurno and Land's
End.
