service. Between us we have an extensive knowledge of the area and are
happy to help in the planning and arranging of trips, visits and walks
during your stay. We aim to ensure that your stay at the Bay Lodge is
a pleasant one!
We offer a varying breakfast menu with a choice
of full English/continental breakfast or combination of both and a selection
of lighter items. Breakfast is served between 8-9am, earlier breakfasts
can be served by prior arrangement.
Arriving at Bay Lodge
by Car:
Follow the A30 through Cornwall to the Tesco
Roundabout on Eastern Green as you approach Penzance - Use the left lane
signed for Penzance Town Centre, onto the B3311 - Take the second turning
on the right. Immediately turn right again Bay Lodge is the first house
on the left with a palm tree in the garden.
Arriving at Bay Lodge by
Train or Coach:
Penzance has both a rail and coach terminus
from destinations throughout the UK. These terminuses are located next
to each other, and within walking distance of Bay Lodge however a taxi
rank is close at hand.
Penzance and West Cornwall
Bay Lodge is located just 20 yards from the
shores of Mount's Bay with a view over the bay to St. Michael's
Mount.
Penzance is Cornwall's largest and most
westerly borough. Only 10 miles from Land's End, an Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty and Celtic culture. Surrounded by cliffs, rocky coves,
sandy beaches and crystal clear seas and moors covered with heather and
gorse.
Fishing villages, cliff-top walks, sub-tropical
vegetation and a wealth of industrial and maritime heritage, the town
of Penzance and it's coastline peppered with coves, caves, and a history
of smugglers and wreckers, inspired Gilbert and Sullivan to name one of
their most famous productions "The Pirates of Penzance".
Cornwall is the home of the Eden Project
and to many beaches that are ideal for families and children, with sandy
beaches and inviting water; lifeguards patrol most of these popular venues
during the summer. For water sports enthusiasts, there are excellent opportunities
for surfing and windsurfing, while sailing is popular in Mounts Bay. Scattered
over the Peninsula are many prehistoric sites walks and commercial gardens
to visit.
Mounts Bay is the setting for the island castle
of St Michael's Mount while, further around the coast, lays the
Minack Theatre set dramatically in the cliffs above the sea. Other
attractions in the area are the Lands End Experience, The Tate
Gallery in St Ives, Paradise Park bird sanctuary in Hayle and
nearby is the town of Helston - Flambards Theme Park and The Seal
Sanctuary at Gweek. There are many museums, galleries and other attractions
in and around Penzance, plus the best Cornish food, drinks and entertainment
in a great range of bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs, there will never
be a shortage of things to do.
