LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

Arches is ideally placed in the centre of Cornwall, giving easy access to all of Cornwall's major attractions and Tourist venues. Locally, you can explore the beautiful Roseland Peninsula from Mevagissey and Gorran Haven along the coast to St Mawes with its fine castle and views across the river to Falmouth.

We are just a ten minute walk from the town centre and the mainline train and bus station. We can provide a pickup service for the disabled and elderly. Provided notice is given.

We are central to most of the local attractions, for instance, approximately 4 miles to The Eden Project, 5 miles to Heligan Gardens.

Great beaches are all close by, Charlestown with it's tall ships being the closest, then Carlyon Bay and Par. To further your horizon you can find Bodmin Moor with it's lovely views and great picnic areas plus, we are only twenty minutes from Fowey, Mevagissey and thirty minutes from Truro and Falmouth.

The Eden Project

In a huge crater in Cornwall lies a gateway into the world of plants and people. Nestled against the cliff are two conservatories shaped like giant bubbles that are home to thousands of plants from the tropical rainforest areas and the warm climates of the Mediterranean regions. Outside are plants that enjoy the temperate Cornish climate including wheat, tea and sunflowers.

Lost Gardens of Heligan

The award winning Lost Gardens of Heligan extend to some eighty acres of superb pleasure grounds together with a magnificent complex of walled gardens and a huge, productive vegetable garden, all fast returning to their former glory.

Lying at the heart of one of the most mysterious estates in England, Heligan, the former seat of the Tremayne family, is now the site of the largest garden restoration in Europe.

Lanhydrock House and Gardens
(National Trust)

The finest house in Cornwall, superbly set in wooded parkland of 450 acres and encircled by a garden of rare shrubs and trees, lovely in all seasons.

Lanhydrock features 49 rooms ranging from the richly furnished main rooms reflecting Victorian comfort to maids' bedrooms, the great kitchen and the newly-opened Nursery Wing and the splendid comforts of the state rooms to the fascinating warren of kitchens, larders and sculleries 'below stairs'.

There is a restaurant and shop in the house and plant sales in the car-park.
