Self-catering Agar Cottage is situated in the sheltered village of Trelights. The cottage is over 400 years old and is built in traditional style with three-foot thick cob walls and a slate roof. It was for many years the village forge. It has been fully modernised to a high standard. Trelights lies one mile inland from the pretty cove of Port Quin. Port Isaac, a fishing harbour with delightful narrow streets is to the north and was used as the setting for the television series Doc Martin. Polzeath with its magnificent sandy beach is to the west. The North Cornish coast is renowned for its rugged granite rocks and cliffs and its long sandy beaches and surf. From the cottage it is easy to find a wide variety of beaches and scenery and to participate in many different sports or pastimes, including sailing, surfing, walking, windsurfing, kayaking and fishing. There are three excellent golf courses including a nine-hole course at St. Kew, an eighteen-hole course at Roserrow and the renowned St. Enodoc Golf Club. Shops are within easy reach in Rock or Port Isaac and there are larger supermarkets with online facilities in Wadebridge. There are good pubs and restaurants nearby to suit all tastes and budgets. Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant is in Padstow and Fifteen Cornwall is a little further away in Newquay. The Eden Project is about half an hour away by road and Bodmin Moor and the south coast are both within easy reach. Agar Cottage has belonged to our family for over forty years and was always used by us as our holiday home until we moved into the village last year. We know and love the cottage and the area well and we feel sure that our tenants will feel the same and wish to return once they have stayed there.
