2 West Pier Flats has 2 double bedrooms & directly
overlooks the Lifeboat Slipway.
Being on the first floor, with a huge bay window, our flat
enjoys, we think, some of the finest views of St Ives Harbour and the
seafront.
Enjoy all the action of the lifeboat being launched as
she simulates rescue trials in St Ives bay, or watch the fishing boats
deposit their catch of fish at Smeaton's Pier.
In high summer relax with local Cornish Silver Bands and
Choirs as they entertain you during the early evening.
ACCOMMODATION
This first floor apartment enjoys some of the finest views
in St Ives being located on the harbour front opposite the west Pier and
Lifeboat House.
It contains a really light and spacious living / dining
room with a wide bay window through which visitors can enjoy watching
the lifeboat being launched, listen to the bands and choirs performing
on the pier, or simply try to spot the seals coming in on the tide following
the fishermen home in the hope of a share of their catch. There is a living
flame fire, TV and video.
The fitted kitchen contains integral hob, oven, washer
/ drier and microwave.
Both bedrooms have double beds and wall-mounted heaters
and the bathroom has a bath with an electric shower over, basin, WC and
wall heater. We are particularly fortunate that the property is personally
supervised and cleaned by a local St Ives couple who also supply the bed
linen.
The shops and restaurants are all in close proximity as
are the numerous Art Galleries and Craft Workshops. The Barbara Hepworth
Museum is located nearby as is the Tate opened by The Prince of Wales
in 1993.
LOCATION
Strolling behind the seafront into a warren of cobbled
streets, alleyways and courtyards which formerly housed the fishermen
of St Ives you will discover streets with unusual names: Mount Zion, Love
Street, Virgin Street, Salubrious Place, Bethesda Hill and, of course,
Teetotal Street; all reminiscent of St Ives strong Methodist and Temperance
tradition.
All the main beaches of the town are within easy walking
distance. Porthmeor is only a five minute walk and particularly popular
with the more adventurous who want to surf. Porthminster and Porthgwidden
are lovely family beaches and both boast excellent Beach Restaurants and
Barbecues. If, however, you want to feel the sand under your toes but
don't need a walk then the Harbour Beach is just yards away under your
living room windows.
St Ives is an excellent centre for walking - the coastal
pathways to Zennor and Carbis Bay are spectacular but the less energetic
might feel equally relaxed taking a gentle stroll along the seafront,
watching the sun set over St Ives Bay.
